Veronica "Sissy" Catalina-Mulligan

In memory of Veronica L. "Sissy" Catalina-Mulligan, who was born in Dixon IL April 15, 1948. The Daughter of Bruno and Anna Bernice (Joyce) Catalina. Sissy resided in Dixon IL her entire life. Sissy passed Saturday March 29, 2025 at Chandler Regional Medical Center in Chandler, AZ at the age of 76. Sissy was proud she was the First Dixon Duchess while attending Dixon High School. Sissy served her community with her work at the Dixon Developmental Center and at the Illinois Dept. of Children and Family Services for over 30 years prior to her retirement. Sissy was preceded in death by her parent’s Bruno and Anna Bernice (Joyce) Catalina, as well as her sister Kimmy Marie Catalina. Sissy is survived by her four children Patrick "Hank" (Joanie) Mulligan Jr of Dixon IL., Sean (Kayla Bollman-Gaffey) Mulligan of Mount Morris IL, and twins Krista (Jeremy) Reising of Phoenix AZ, Kelle (Jill) Mulligan of Dixon IL, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Three brothers Terry (Arlene) Catalina of St. Simon GA, Frank (Nita Duran) Catalina of Dixon IL, Dennis (Marlene Giese) Catalina of Polo IL, two sisters Sandi (Darcy) Wadsworth of Grand Detour IL and Karen Catalina of Grand Detour IL., as well as many wonderful cousins, nieces, and nephews – too many to record, all too loved to describe! In addition to her community, Sissy was devoted to her family. Sissy was very involved with her entire families’ activities – she was a Cub Scout leader, and was actively engaged in baseball teams, swimming teams, soccer teams, dance lessons, and gymnastics lessons. She was the best cheerleader to have on your side. Sissy absolutely loved Christmas. Her Christmas tree was up year-round. Making memories during set up for the holiday lights and trees to sharing Hallmark Series ornaments every year was very important to her. She loved to sing and dance, and her favorite color was anything Neon and Glitter. Sissy lived hard and loved hard, and in turn will be eternally loved and missed. Visitation will be on Thursday April 24, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. Mass of Christian burial will be Friday April 25, at 11 AM at St Anne Catholic Church in Dixon. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. It’s never Goodbye, it’s Nite Nite. A memorial has been established to Granny Rose Animal Shelter in Dixon. Arrangements by the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon.
