Patricia Marie Statler

Patricia M. Statler of Polo, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, aged 74, died peacefully on July 7, 2016, due to health and illness. Pat was born March 5, 1942 in May Twp. Lee County Illinois the daughter of Willard and Henrietta (Clopine) Friel. She was one of 10 brothers and sisters. She married Russell Statler on July 2, 1960, they had 3 children and recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Pat left behind a legacy of celebration and was always the life of the party. She will be fondly remembered for ensuring everyone was having a good time and always welcomed new guests with open arms. Hugs were a requirement! Her fondness for all types of card games and board games guaranteed everyone was included in the fun. Christmas was one of Pat's favorite holidays, which she always made very special, the memories she created for her family will never be forgotten. One of Pat's beloved past times was traveling to warm tropical locations and making friends wherever she went. During her life Pat participated in several areas of the community. She contributed in several fundraising events with the JayCee Committee to raise money for Polo, IL. She taught catechism for 10 years at St Mary's church in Polo, where she also belonged to the Alter and Rosary Society. As a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority of Polo she continued to raise money for different causes in the Polo area. Pat is survived by her husband Russell, two daughters Dina (James) Lillyman of Franklin Grove, Valerie Statler of Kentucky, son Greg Statler of Polo, five grandchildren, Victoria Statler, Tate Statler, Shantel Smith, Brittany Macchi and Zachary Howard, five great grandchildren, Adrionna Macchi, Kellan Smith, Gavin Smith, Jaron Smith and Jayden Ogunfowokan, two sisters Sandy Schamberger of Amboy and LeEllen (Joseph) Long of Dixon, four brothers, Thomas (Barbara) Friel of Dixon, Robert (Linda) Friel of Kentucky, David Friel of Dixon, and Duane (Renee) Friel of California, and a number of other relatives and close friends. She will be greatly missed by all and loved forever. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 grandchildren, Marie Cutsinger and Valorne and Luke Follmer, one sister Bonnie Friel and two brothers Kenneth and Timothy Friel. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday July 11, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St Mary Catholic Church in Polo. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Church. Burial will follow in St Mary Cemetery in Polo. After the burial a luncheon celebration of her life will be held at the Dixon Elks Lodge. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to St Mary Catholic Church in Polo.
