Lillian M Farley

Lillian M. Farley, 97, of Dixon, IL, loving mother and grandmother, passed away Friday, December 30, 2022 in Dixon, surrounded by family. Lillian was born to John and Alice (Donovan) McCoy on March 13, 1925 at her family home on the farm in East Grove Township, IL. Throughout WWII, Lillian was very proud to be employed by the Green River Ordinance Plant, assembling munitions for the war effort. To improve morale of the soldiers, Lillian would write positive notes on the bombs such as “Good Luck Soldier!”. During this time, she met her future husband Robert L. Farley, and they were married on July 3, 1948. Lillian felt it was her vocation to always love and care for her family. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon, Altar and Rosary Society, member and past president of the VFW Auxiliary, and member of the Dixon Country Club. Lillian continued to drive to work at the Dixon Township Assessor’s Office until she was 95. Since 1948, the family vacations to Lake Lawn Lodge in Delavan, WI, have always been a highlight in her life, creating memories and traditions that will be passed down for generations. Survivors include six children, Pamela (Gregory) Farley Koch of Elgin, Douglas Farley of Dixon, Sherrie (William) Shirk of Morrison, Dennis Farley of Evansville, IN, Gregory (Karen) Farley of Dixon, and Larry Farley of Dixon; fourteen grandchildren, Calicia (Brandon) Shultz, Olivia Koch, Benjamin (Brandy) Farley, June (Zechariah) Potts, Morgan Shirk, Paige Shirk, Matthew (Michelle) Shirk, Luke Farley, Lauren Farley, Caitlin Farley, Ryan (Brooke) Stephenitch, Shay Farley, Rachel Farley, Bailey Farley; twelve great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alice Catherine Garland of Cedar Rapids, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; one brother, James McCoy; two sisters, Patrice McCoy and Esther Thompson; and one grandson, William (Billy) Shirk. The visitation will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM, and will be officiated by Monsignor Daniel Hermes. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. A memorial has been established.
