Harriet E. Kelchner

Harriet E. McGuire Kelchner, a beautiful mother passed peacefully with beloved family at her bedside. She is the middle child of five children, born in Lee Center, Illinois growing up in Sublette and Amboy. She loved these towns with all her heart. She married Roger Kelchner May 31, 1958. They lived in Utica IL on Canal St. Starved Rock was her favorite place in the world. She loved going there and looking for rocks, and driftwood. She had gone there all her life. Roger and Harriet had seven children. In 1960 she lost her first son James to pneumonia at three months old, a terrible loss she suffered her entire life. When they divorced, in 1976, she went on to raise her children on her own. She was strong and resilient. She had 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She had a most precious love for Her niece Victoria, granddaughter Christine, and great granddaughter Jalea. Harriet‘s best friend in the world was her brother Vernon. They loved each other so much. Her love was yard sales having them all over the county talking to people and meeting new friends. They would become family for life and Amboy was her favorite yard sale spot at Chris Noble‘s house where she met her adopted granddaughter Mio who she loved. She had the best times there it will never be forgotten. She loved her animals, her dog Timber, and her cats. Her neighbors meant everything to her Juan and Martha, Wani, and Barb she loved each and everyone dearly and they loved her back. She lived in Savanna Illinois from 1979 to 2007 and then move to Mendota where she resided until her last days. She was preceded in death by her son, Jamie, her son, Kelly, her daughter Veronica, her mom Ila McGuire Blevins, father Robert McGuire, her brother, Vernon McGuire her brother, Bob McGuire, her brother, Bill McGuire , her sister Nettie McGuire. She is survived by her daughter Deborah, sons Daniel, Andrew, Roger, 17 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Cremation rites have been accorded with a celebration of life at a later date. Arrangements by the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy.
