Aaron E. Mossholder

Aaron E. Mossholder age 90 of Dixon died Monday June 24, 2024, at Heritage Square in Dixon. He was born April 15, 1934, in Dixon to Harriet Mossholder Snapp. Aaron spent all of his formative years living with his grandmother Carrie (Lowrey) Mossholder on Dixon's north side. He attended and graduated the old North Central School and Dixon High School. Following the death of his grandmother, Aaron enlisted in the Marine Corps and served 3 years, 1953 to 1955 including 18 months in Korea during the war. After his discharge from the military, he returned to the Dixon area and worked as a driver for Rock River Ready Mix for some time and as a semi delivery driver for Raynor Manufacturing. He loved driving all over the country, meeting many wonderful customers and seeing many great places, he loved the road but retired in 1997 to stay on the farm and involve himself in a huge yard and all the other projects. He was a member of the First Christian Church, a life member of the Dixon Elks Lodge, the American Legion, Dixon Senior Center, and AARP. A lifelong Green Bay Packer and NASCAR racing fan. Aaron was united in marriage April 18, 1964, to Elizabeth Anne Shippert. She survives as do their 4 children. A daughter Terry Lynn Hansen, and three sons Marc, Doug, and Tim (Kari) Mossholder all of Dixon. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren Jennifer of Crystal Lake, Dane of Scottsdale, AZ, Theresa of Portland, OR, Joshua (Marina) of Pittsburgh, PA, Tori (Nate), David both of Dixon, Derek (Donna) of Rock Falls, and 10 great grandchildren. Aaron was preceded in death by the grandmother who raised him, his mother, and in laws Robert and Ethelyn Shippert. He was also preceded in death by a grandson Christopher Mossholder, sister and brother in law Dale (Barbara) Weidman plus many aunts, uncles, cousins and so many close and very dear friends. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial Celebration of Life will be held on June 28, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Holloway Center of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon 612 Highland Ave Dixon, IL 61021 Memorial donations in Aaron's name can be made to Heritage Square in Dixon. The Mossholder family would like to thank all of the staff of Heritage Square for the dedicated and wonderful care given to Aaron. He loved all of the kind employees, they were so good to him.
