Rosemary Hawks

Rosemary "Rosie" Hawks age 89 of Amboy died Thursday Jan, 22, 2015 at Aperion Care of Amboy. She was born May 5, 1925 in Amboy the daughter of William and Aileen (Brady) Morrissey. She married George D. Hawks June 25, 1949 in St. Bernard Catholic Church in Chicago. He preceded her in death June 20, 2005 Rosie's main career was being a loving wife and mother as she followed her husband around the nation while he pursued his career with Boeing Aircraft. She was always a willing volunteer for her church and community. She had worked at Borg Warner in Dixon for 10 years, In 1978 Rosie and George settled back in Amboy where they became an active, loving and integral part of there extended family, St. Patrick Church and the Amboy Community. In 2013 after two serious falls, Rosie became a resident of Green Acres Rehab. Center - now known as Aperion Care. Despite her loss of independence she always greeted the staff, her family and friends with a warm courageous smile. She will be sorely missed by her beloved family and friends. She was also preceded in death by two sons George Hawks Jr. and Danny Hawks, 3 brothers, Robert, John and Fr. Bill Morrissey. She is survived by one son Raymond "Chip" (Laura) Hawks of Oro Valley, AZ, 2 grandchildren, James T (Lisa) Hawks of Chicago, and Nancy Hawks of Tucson, AZ, one great grand daughter McKenzy Jackson, one step daughter Cheryl (Charles) Brandt of Anchorage, Alaska, 7 sisters, Betty Wilhelm, Rita Glenn, Monica Scorby, Barbara Goy all of Amboy, Colleen Koch of Dixon, Lois Considine of Romeoville, IL, Francis (Gene) Carroll of Shorewood, IL, sister in law Corrine Morrissey of Amboy, 2 brothers Joseph (Josephine) Morrissey of Rockford, and Larry (Carol) Morrissey of New Boston, IL and many beloved nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday Jan. 24, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas Bales officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 10:15 AM in the Church. Arrangements by the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. A memorial has been established to the St Patrick Catholic Church Building Fund.
