Ronald E. Simpson

August 18, 1947 - December 16, 2017

Ronald E Simpson age 70 of Dixon died Saturday Dec. 16, 2017 at his home. He was born Aug. 18, 1947 in Mendota, IL the son of Leslie and Iona (Wilson) Simpson. Ron had worked at Edelmanns, Schwan's and Raynors. He served in the United States Army from June of 1967 thru June of 1969. He served in the Vietnam war where he received many medals including the Bronze Star with V Device. Ron was an active member with the Hardchargers, also a member of the VFW. He was very devoted to his military buddies. Ron was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He was a joker who never met a stranger. Ron was a loving father, grandfather and devoted husband. His grandchildren meant the world to him. Ron will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Ron married Debra Fane March 2, 1974 at St Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon. He is survived by his wife, children Chad (Jennifer) Simpson, Leslie Simpson, Stephanie Miglani and Ryan Simpson all of Dixon, 8 grandchildren, John, Meghan, Marcus, James, Chase, Katie, Sophie and Colton. He is also survived by a sister Susan Blackburn of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Gary Simpson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday Dec. 21, 2017 beginning with 10:00 AM prayer service in the Jones Funeral Home followed by a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon with the Rev. Colin Easton officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM with the Rosary at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, WI.
