Joseph "Joe" Widolff

October 16, 1928 - February 14, 2019

Joseph "Joe" Widolff age 90 of West Brooklyn died Thursday Feb. 14, 2019 at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle. He was born Oct. 16, 1928 in Mendota, IL the son of Albert and Mary Gertrude (Jones) Widolff. Joe was a life long farmer and rancher in the West Brooklyn area and had also been a seed corn dealer for 20 years. He served in the Army in Korea during the War. He was a member of St Mary Catholic Church in West Brooklyn, Lee County Farm Bureau, the Brooklyn/Compton American Legion Post 657 and the Mendota VFW Post 4079. He was and avid fox and racoon hunter. Joe married Carol Mann Nov. 26, 1955 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mendota. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Eleanor Van Hoose Joe is survived by his wife Carol, children Diane (James) Devine of Dixon, Michael (Janet) Widolff of West Brooklyn, Lois (Brian) Donovan of Winter Haven, FL, Randy (Shelley Mink) Widolff of West Brooklyn, Steven (Paula) Widolff of Amboy, 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one brother William (Betty) Widolff of Rock Falls and one sister Esther Brechon of Dixon. Mass of Christian burial will be on Tuesday Feb. 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St Mary Catholic Church in West Brooklyn with the Rev. Randy Fronek officiating. Burial will follow in St Mary Cemetery in West Brooklyn. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy with a scripture service at 3:30 PM and on Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at the church. Memorials have been established to the St Mary Altar and Rosary Society and the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle.
