Jessie Mae Ware

October 8, 1937 - April 24, 2022

Jessie Mae Ware passed from this life on Sunday April 24, 2022. She was born Oct. 8, 1937, Cairo, IL the daughter of Mr. Charlie E. and Minnie Crawford Ware, attended Cairo, Public Schools and was baptized at an early age. Jessie was a member of Everdale Missionary Baptist Church, Cairo, IL She moved to Dixon, IL June 1, 1957, employed by State of Illinois Developmental Disabilities State School and the Mabley Developmental Center upon retiring Dec. 31, 1996. Jessie attended and is a member of the Second Baptist Church through the years, also a member of AFSCME 72, Retiree 31 and LCCOA. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents Charlie Sr. and Maggie Ware, sister Charlie Mae (Kenneth) Scott of Centralia, IL, brother Alex (Judy) Crawford, El Paso, Texas, half-brother Curtis Ware of Fairview Heights, IL, half-sister Beatha Ware of East St Louis, IL, daughter Batanya Banks of Dixon, great granddaughter Hadaya Banks of Dixon, niece Debra Dent of Colorado Springs, CA, nephew Alex Crawford Jr of El Paso, TX, uncles and aunts Zeilma (Leonard) Bell of Centralia, IL, Henry Ware of Chicago, IL, Gorden Ware of Centralia, IL and Maggie Moss of Centralia, IL. Jessie is survived by grandsons Emanuel Banks of California, Hershell Banks of Dixon, IL, granddaughter Tiffany (Josh) Meyer of Sterling, great grandsons Ian Keene of Sterling, Hakeem Banks of Iowa, Jayden Herrmann of Sterling, great granddaughter Aaliyah Ganze of Sterling. Also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday April 29, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. Burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon. Visitation will be on Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. A celebration of life when more of Jessie’s family can attend will be held later this year.
