Francis M. Cain Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Francis M Cain, age 92, of Dixon, IL, died Tuesday Aug. 2, 2022 at Liberty Court Assisted Living. He was born Oct. 8, 1929 in Clinton, IA, the son of Matthew and Elizabeth (Dever) Cain. He married Betty Berrettini on Oct. 10, 1953 in Dixon, IL. Francis farmed in rural Charlotte, Iowa for over 30 years, where he and Betty raised their family, before moving to Dixon. He worked as warehouse manager at LRB Distributors prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Francis also served in the National Guard. Francis was an Irish Catholic gentleman devoted to many worthy endeavors in his life, but his true loves were his love of God and the love of his extensive family, especially for Betty, his dear wife of 68 years. Francis is survived by his wife Betty, children David (Marlene) Cain of Dixon; Carolyn (Mark) Rusk of Evansville, IN; Mary (Randy) Weatherly of Peoria; Terry (Michelle) Cain of Williamsburg, IA; Patricia (Terry) Kemp of Dubuque, IA; and Paul (Kelly) Cain of Urbandale, IA; 20 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother Robert (Joan) Cain of Charlotte, IA, two sisters Cecelia Sullivan and Kathryn Caron both of Clinton, IA, sister-in-law Margaret Cain of DeWitt, IA, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Raymond and Edward Cain, five sisters and their spouses: Mary Margaret (Pat) McDermott, Angela (Bill) McMahon, Eileen (Don) Bly, Maureen (Vern) Witt and Roberta (Milton) Obermann. He was also preceded in death by in-laws Bob Caron, Eldon Sullivan, Paul (Jane) Berrettini and Monica Berrettini. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday Aug. 9, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church in Dixon with the Rev. Timothy Draper officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. Visitation will be on Monday Aug. 8, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at St. Anne Catholic Church with a Scripture Service at 6:30 PM. There will also be visitation on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:15 at the church. A memorial has been established to St. Anne Catholic Church. The family wishes to thank the staff at Liberty Court and Unity Hospice for their tender care for Francis. His smiling Irish eyes will be forever missed.
