Donald Ray Gascoigne

June 24, 1934 - December 23, 2019

Donald R. "Tuffy" Gascoigne age 85 of Amboy died Monday Dec. 23, 2019 at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle. He was born June 24, 1934 in Amboy the son of William Albert and Blanche (Searls) Gascoigne. Tuffy farmed for 35 years then worked at Allied Waste until his retirement. He served in the Army as a tank driver and mechanic from 1954 to 1956 during the Korean War. Tuffy was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He married Kathleen Mary Payne on Feb. 15, 1958 and she preceded him in death July 31, 1985. He married Wilma Eisenberg Nov. 8, 1991. Tuffy is survived by his wife Wilma, sons Douglas (Becky) Gascoigne of Dixon, Dean (Melissa) Gascoigne of Sterling, daughters Diane (Tim) Shipman and Denise (Steve) Smith both of Dixon, daughter in law Joan Gascoigne of Sterling; grandsons Matthew Gascoigne, Christopher (Carissa) Gascoigne, Joshua (Kenzie Wolfley) Shipman, Devin Gascoigne, and Samuel Gascoigne, granddaughters Sarah Gascoigne, Allison Shipman and Deanna Gascoigne, one great grandson Braxtin Gascoigne. He is also survived by one sister Betty (Bill) Ogan of Clinton, IA and one brother Jack Gascoigne of Savanna, IL. He was also preceded in death by his parents, twin daughters Lori and Linda and son Donald Gascoigne, twin grandchildren Michael and Kathleen, one brother William "Bill" Gascoigne and his twin sister Dorothy Floto. Funeral services will be on Saturday Dec. 28, 2019 beginning with a 10:00 AM prayer service at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy followed by a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy with the Rev. Timothy Draper officiating. Burial will follow in St Patrick Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle and to the Payne in The ALS Foundation.
