Peggy M. Johnson

Peggy M. Johnson age 75 of Dixon died on Monday Oct. 25, 2021 at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling, IL. She was born on Aug. 9, 1946 in Mendota, IL the daughter of Orville and Irene (Salz) Bonnell and grew up in the Maytown area. Peggy worked as a Hab. Tech and bus driver for Kreider Services prior to her retirement in 2002. She loved getting together, visiting, and playing games with family and friends. On Sept. 28, 1968 she married Phil Sofolo and he preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1995. She then married Myrl Johnson on June 30, 2000 in Dixon, IL. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers Martin Bonnell, Steven Bonnell, John Bonnell, Tom Bonnell, and 1 sister Linda Chavera. She is also preceded in death by 1 brother in law Rollie Streeter, 1 sister in law Vicki Bonnell, 1 niece Rachel, and 2 nephews Brock and Michael. Peggy is survived by her husband Myrl, step children Joseph (Tricia) Lowder of Canton IL, Jenifer (Todd) Steder of Dixon, James (Amber) Johnson of Freeport, Ann (Scott) Miller of Monroe Center, Myrl (Sandra) Johnson Jr. of Colorado Springs CO, many step grandchildren and great grandchildren, 5 sisters Rosann (Bill) Good of Pearland TX, Bonnie (John) Carson of Ashton, Janelle (Jim) Clark of Maricopa AZ, Jill (Jimmy Espinoza) Streeter of Spring Valley, Lucy (Darin) Miller of Byron, 3 brothers Daniel "Peach" (Connie) Bonnell, Jerry Bonnell both of Amboy, Joel (Karen) Bonnell of Dixon. She is also survived by her brother in law Allen (Nancy Trout) Johnson of Ely IA, sisters in law Cindy (Steve) Dehart of Dixon, Lynn Bonnell of Franklin Grove, Pam Bonnell of Dixon, numerous nieces and nephews, Phil's children Philip (Becky) Sofolo, Cynthia (Don) Gideon, Steven (Pegi) Sofolo, Vily Kurzrock, Rocky (Jan) Sofolo, Brett (Deana) Sofolo and special friends Paulette (Michael) Hamas of Dixon, and Linda (Dennis) Ely of Amboy. Visitation will be on Tuesday Nov. 2, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon. Funeral Service will follow visitation on Nov. 2, 2021 starting at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon. Burial will follow service at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. A memorial has been established.
