Helen Larsen

Helen "Nana" Considine Larsen, age 88, of Dixon, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, in K.S.B. Hospital. She was born January 15, 1921 in Harmon, the daughter of Edward and Louise (Smallwood) Schoaf. She graduated from the Coppins Business School, was a 60-year member of the American Legion, as well as a member of the Women of the Moose. "Nana" lived a long and wonderful life. She dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by many as the "blonde-haired grandmother driving the Nana van." She married State Representative Hubert D. Considine on August 14,1942 at Camp Pickett in Alexandria, Virginia. He preceded her in death in 1974. Helen and Hubert have six children who survive her. Later she married George C. Larsen; he preceded her in death in 1979. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; one brother and sister, Francis Schoaf and Doris Small. She is survived by two sisters, Dessa Blondin and Marilyn Coan; and one sister-in-law, Karin Schoaf. She is survived by six children who felt her love and dedication: Dennis (John DeLong) Considine, Dean (Sandy) Considine, Dara Nicklaus, Douglas (Betsy) Considine, Damian (Roberta) Considine, all of Dixon, and Danae (Jerry) Burgess of Visalia, California. Helen has always been "Nana" to her many grandchildren who felt her commitment and love: Donette (Anita) Considine, Deon (Angela) Considine, Devi (Aaron) Hawes, Kendra Considine, Kasey (Dana) Considine, Krystal Considine, Alixandria Considine, Brittany Considine, Cody (Angie) Considine, Cassie Considine, Nina (Mike) Laughlin, Neesha (Art) Jackson, Jennifer (Mark) Truesdell and Jared Considine. Nana's great-grandchildren are: Makenna Considine, Nolan Farster, Kya and Mattea Collier, Ava Considine, Jaedin Canterbury Considine, Haley Foster, Abigail Hawes, Delaney Bruce, Ireland and Drake Laughlin, Zack and Jenna Truesdell. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm, with the rosary at 8:00 pm, at Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. Funeral services and Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 10:30 am at St. Patrick's Church in Dixon, with Father James Keenan officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Dixon. A memorial has been established. Helen lived a full and vibrant life. She will be remembered as a charismatic, strong, confident, loving, and loyal Nana, mother, sister, and friend. May she be smiling from heaven pleased with the full and wonderful life she lived, and the many lives she so positively and beautifully touched.
