Evelyn L. Nagy

Evelyn Lida (Hinds) Nagy, age 95, of Dixon, passed away on April 3, 2025 at Liberty Court in Dixon. She was born on February 4, 1930, in Dixon to Mabel Julia (Foss) and Simeon Moody Hinds. Evelyn graduated from Dixon High School in 1948, where she was active in the Latin Club, Spanish Club, Drama Club, Chorus, the Dixini, and served as Vice President of her class. Her high school years were filled with cherished memories of spending time at Lowell Park and swimming in the Rock River. Following her graduation, Evelyn worked as Executive Assistant to the Administrator at the Dixon State School, dedicating seven years to the institution. She had a love for convertibles, and one summer, she and three girlfriends embarked on a memorable cross-country journey to California, the wind in their hair and adventure in their hearts. Evelyn married Frank Nagy on September 4, 1955, in Dixon and they shared a wonderful 68 years of marriage. She led a full and vibrant life, filled with love and kindness. She found joy in activities such as golfing, bowling, swimming, and vacationing to Florida, Arizona, and Mexico. Known for her warm hospitality, she welcomed friends and family to the Nagy pool every summer. She especially cherished her children and grandchildren. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Evelyn will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She is survived by her six children: Joel (Danette) Nagy, James Nagy, Mary (Jamie) Anderson, Paul (Deana) Nagy, all of Dixon; Elizabeth (Rick) Paisley of Gurnee, IL; and Pat (Liz) Nagy of Byron, IL. She is also survived and lovingly remembered by her 13 grandchildren: Kristin, Michael, Shana, James Dylan, Kalman, Kyle, Megan, Randi, Danielle, Alex, Tyler, Katy, and Matt; and 16 great-grandchildren: Ryan, Emery, Harlow, Lilian, Evalyn, Charlotte, Isabel, Nolan, Tinley, Remi, Eleanor, Larry, Sophia Evelyn, Jacob, Grady, Maclyn, and a precious baby girl expected to join the family in September 2025. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Frank Nagy; two brothers, Arthur White and Ferris Hinds; and three sisters, Vivian (White) Gilbert, Leila (Hinds) Knicl, and Hope Hinds. Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Details will be posted on this page as arrangements are made.
