Cora Mae Miller

Cora Mae Miller, 79, of Dixon, was born January 18, 1942 in Dixiana, AL, to Haywood and Maebell (Brown) Huffman. She worked at Schreiber Foods prior to her retirement. Cora married the love of her life Walter B. Miller Jr. on Sept. 13, 1963 in Cambridge, IL. They spent 54 wonderful years together. To this union, three children were born whom she dearly loved: Wilma, Wallace and Wanda. Cora and Walter’s hobby together was fishing. They had a very successful trip one day, bringing home 85 fish – of course, she caught the biggest one! On July 4, 1975, Cora made the most important decision of her life when she symbolized her personal dedication to Jehovah by water baptism. She had a love for Jehovah and her ministry, which was evident to all who knew her, including her neighbors, doctors, and healthcare staff. She particularly enjoyed spending long days in the ministry supporting her fellow ministers. Although Cora’s health declined, her spirituality continued to “be renewed from day to day.” (2 Cor. 4:16) She was never missing from her theocratic meetings, always at Family Worship, and prayed to Jehovah daily. She also genuinely enjoyed visits from our travelling overseers! On January 28, 2021, Cora fell asleep in death in her home with complete assurance in the hope of a resurrection. She looked to the future of being united with her family and friends, and seeing her beloved husband Walter again. (Acts 24:15; Rev. 21: 3,4) He, along with her parents and three siblings, Samuel Brown, Hazel Gunn, and Prather Huffman preceded her in death. She leaves memories to cherish for her children, Wilma Miller-Schaefer of Rock Falls, Wallace Miller of Kewanee, Wanda (Chris) Gwin of Dixon; four grandchildren, Nicole Schaefer, Sterling, Sydney and “Baby-Cakes” Stephen Gwin; two sisters, Susie (L.V.) Cliff of Galesburg, IL and Annie Watts of Huntsville, AL, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear, longtime friends. A Zoom service will be held on Saturday Feb. 6, 2021 at 1:00 PM.
