Barry "Bill" Royster

Barry William "Bill" Royster, age 51, of Rockford, IL passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 11, 1972, in Dixon, IL the son of Barry and Anna (Herzog) Royster. Bill worked for Raynor Garage Doors for over 25 years, in various positions, but most recently as a Senior Regional Sales Manager. He worked hard, enjoyed what he did, and loved the relationships he built with both his coworkers and Raynor distributors over his years with the company. After graduating from Dixon High School, he attended Sauk Valley Community College and graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing. He enjoyed golfing, spending time with his friends, and vacationing with his family. Bill was also an avid sports fan, with his favorite teams being the Michigan Wolverines and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He married his soulmate Brandy Truckenbrod on June 28, 1997, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Dixon. On the night they met, he told his friends that she was the girl he was going to marry. They enjoyed a beautiful life together and were blessed with their pride and joy, Abby, who began her freshman year at the University of Illinois this fall, converting Bill to a Fighting Illini fan as well. It is safe to say that to know Bill was to love Bill. Always with a smile and a sparkle in his beautiful blue eyes. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, brother Andrew Royster, maternal grandparents Mary and William Herzog, and paternal grandparents Lois and Albert Fryman. He is survived by his devoted wife Brandy, daughter Abigail “Abby” Royster, sister Amy (Bryan Mixer) Royster of Roselle, father and mother-in-law Roger and Diane Truckenbrod of Sublette, sister-in-law Kendra Nauman of Sublette, and niece Samantha Nauman of Amboy. Funeral services will be on Saturday April 27, 2024 at 7:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. Cremation rites are to follow with burial to be held at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. Visitation will be on Saturday April 27, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established. Arrangements by the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon.
