Bruno Catalina

Bruno C Catalina age 95 of Grand Detour died Saturday Dec. 17, 2011 at his home. He was born Nov. 14, 1916 in Oglesby, IL the son of Frank and Mary (Tamborini) Catalina. He had owned and operated Catalina's Tavern in Grand Detour since 1945. He had also worked at Kable Printing in Mt Morris for 35 years prior to his retirement in 1981 and was active in the Pressman's Union. He was a veteran of the Army during WW II and received the Purple Heart Medal. He was a member of the American Legion and the Mt Morris Moose Club. Bruno was a avid Green Bay Packer fan and a die hard Cubs fan. He married Anna Bernice Joyce Feb. 5, 1946 in Dixon. She preceded him in death Aug. 2, 1989. He is survived by 3 sons Terry (Arlene) Catalina of Brunswick, Georgia, Franklin Dean (Nita) Catalina of Dixon, Dennis (Marlene Giese) Catalina of Polo, 3 daughters Veronica "Sissy" Catalina Mulligan of Dixon, Sandi (Darcy) Wadsworth and Karen Catalina both of Grand Detour, grand children Ann (Jeff) Grettler, Laura (Del) Charity, Kimberly Schmidt, Scott Allen (Masako) Catalina, Chris Powell and Tracy (Shawn) Conley, Christopher Catalina, Brian Catalina, Travis Catalina, Colton Smith, Patrick (Joanie) Mulligan Jr., Sean (Anne) Mulligan, Kelle (Tracy) Mulligan, Krista (Jeremy) Reising, Eric Wadsworth, Kristen "Spanky" (Jessica) Wadsworth, Cody Kemp, Elliott Kemp, and 16 great grandchildren and a sister Dolly Ridenhour of Grand Detour. He was preceded in death by a daughter Kimmy Marie Catalina, brothers Joseph and Vincent Catalina, sisters Rosie Colombi and Genevieve Gentry and half-sisters Jennie Franchini and Mary Guglielmi. Funeral services will be held on Thursday Dec. 22, 2011 beginning with a 10:00 AM prayer service in the Jones Funeral Home followed by a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St Anne Catholic Church in Dixon with the Rev. Michael Morrissey officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon with Military Honors by the Combined Veterans Group. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a scripture service at 7:30 PM in the funeral home. A memorial has been established to Ogle Co. Hospice.
